IMD, "International Institute for Management Development," has a long history of providing executive education. Today, it is a global meeting place, delivering the best in "real world" learning.
Founded in 1990
IMD was created in a merger between IMI, founded by Alcan Aluminium Ltd. and IMEDE, founded by Nestlé SA, two independent business schools.
Milestones
1989 The first World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) is published
1994 IMD launches the innovative Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP) program
1995 IMD forms partnership with ETH Zurich and with EPFL in Lausanne
1997 The IMD – LODH – Family Business Research Center founded in cooperation with Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch
1998 IMD founds the Forum for Corporate Sustainability Management (CSM)
2002 IMD forms partnership with MIT Sloan School of Management in the US
