IMD recognized with seven Brandon Hall Group awards
The quality of IMD’s management education has received astounding recognition at the 2023 edition of the Brandon Hall Group Awards, with a total of seven awards, including six gold and one silver.
Five of the honors were given to IMD’s Digital Transformation Sprint program, created in partnership with NovoEd, and two gold accolades recognized the work in customized learning journeys with the LEGO Group and Bank Mandiri Indonesia.
“More than anything, these awards are a testament to two of the differentiators in business education in which we take pride at IMD: the ability to put the client first and create tailor-made programs, as well as the innovative nature of constantly seeking new tools and formats to improve the learning experience,” says David Bach, Dean of Innovation and Programs and Professor of Strategy and Political Economy at IMD.
The accelerated learning experience of Digital Transformation Sprint – conducted by Michael Wade, Professor of Innovation and Strategy and Director of the IMD Global Center for Digital Business Transformation – was the recipient of prizes in five categories, with four gold medals:
- Best Advance in Leadership Development
- Best Learning Program Supporting a Change Transformation Business Strategy
- Best Development Program for Frontline Leaders
- Best Use of Social/Collaborative Learning
The program also received a silver award in Best Advance in Learning Technology Implementation.
IMD Sprint is an innovative series of programs that enables executives to go deep into particular subjects – Mastering Stress, Generative AI for business, and Digital Transformation – by committing no more than one to two hours per day over the course of two intense and insightful weeks. The next series of programs is scheduled for September 2023.
“Our Sprints include focused daily activities such as live interaction with faculty, state-of-the-art online learning, interaction with participants from across the globe, and applied work-related assignments,” explains Paul Hunter, Director of Programs and Learning Design at IMD.
“This mixture of knowledge sharing, interaction, and application, all condensed within a short period of time, has proven to be a popular and impactful learning experience.”
IMD’s longstanding tradition of devising custom programs for its clients was also at display in this year’s Brandon Hall Group Awards, with two gold accolades:
- Best Advance in Creating a Learning Strategy: “The LEGO Group and IMD: Building the Leadership Playground”, a case that examines how the LEGO Group managed to create a fresh approach and cultivate a leadership mindset that contributed to consistent growth in sales. The case, which had already earned a gold award at the EFMD 2023 Excellence in Practice awards, was led by Professor John Weeks, Professor Susan Goldsworthy, Professor Howard Yu, learning manager Jennie Zeiner, and senior researcher and writer Nancy Lane.
- Best Advance in Competencies and Skill Development: “Bank Mandiri Indonesia & IMD: Cultivating ambidextrous talent to support a bank’s dual transformation”, which was a learning endeavor anchored in the framework of ambidexterity, i.e., the ability to manage a company’s competing demands. The initiative was prepared by Affiliate Professor of Leadership and Organization Ric Roi and researcher Martin Králik from IMD, and Vice President Human Capital Strategy Laurensius Agung Prabowo along with full IMD and Bank Mandiri teams.
Brandon Hall Group runs the largest and longest awards initiative in the field of Human Capital Management. The evaluation process involved a thorough assessment by an international panel of independent industry experts, as well as senior analysts and executives from Brandon Hall Group. The judging criteria encompassed the program’s alignment with specific needs, the intricacy of its design, functional attributes, degree of innovation, and the overarching, quantifiable advantages it brought forth.
