Rainer Hersch began his musical studies with the piano, followed by three years as a conductor at The Conservatoire in Blackheath, London, master classes at the Royal Academy of Music, and special study of Johann Strauss’ music at the Volksoper in Vienna. Early in his career, he was a manager for concert agencies, organizing tours for some of the worldโs great classical artists. He also performed stand-up comedy on the London cabaret circuit, which gradually developed into a parallel career. In 1999, he founded the Rainer Hersch Orkestra. Herschโs performances led to invitations to guest conduct other symphony orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, and the Johann Strauss Orchestra with whom he toured for four years. He is a regular broadcaster for the BBC and Classic FM.
