The new protein buzz: Can Legendary Foods Africa feed the world with insects?

As pressure mounts to feed a growing global population sustainably, entrepreneurs are searching for alternatives to conventional protein sources. One company taking an unconventional approach is Legendary Foods Africa, founded in Ghana by Canadian entrepreneur Shobhita Soor. By farming palm weevil larvae, a nutrient-rich food long consumed in parts of West and Central Africa, the company aims to deliver affordable, sustainable protein with a minimal environmental footprint. Four years after launch, the business is approaching profitability and considering ambitious expansion plans. But can insect-based foods overcome consumer skepticism and scale successfully enough to help feed the world?
