Four IMD professors have been included in The Case Centre’s list of Top 50 Bestselling Case Authors for 2024/25.
The list includes Professor Emeritus of Strategy Peter Killing (ninth), Professor Emeritus of Marketing and Global Strategy Kamran Kashani (10th), Professor of Management and Dean of Faculty and Research Stefan Michel (41st), and elea Professor of Social Innovation and Dean of the IMD EMBA program Vanina Farber (47th).
“Joining the bestselling case authors’ list with three IMD colleagues is very rewarding for me personally and for IMD. Through our case studies for executive education, we help leaders to discuss real issues for real learning,” said Michel.
Killing’s inclusion this year represents his highest ranking since first appearing on the list in 2016 and his remarkable tenth appearance. Over the course of his career, he has won three Case Centre Awards – in 1997 for Nestlé-Rowntree (A), in 2000 for The Brent Spar Platform Controversy, and in 2010 for Nestlé’s Globe Program (A): The Early Months. In recognition of his overall impact on management education, he was also honored in 2013 with The Case Centre’s Outstanding Contribution to the Case Method Award.
Kashani also celebrates his tenth appearance on the bestselling list. His case writing has won five awards from The Case Centre. These include in the Marketing category in 1993 for Alto Chemicals Europe (AR), in 2001 for Make Yourself Heard: Ericsson’s Global Brand Campaign, and in 2011 for Xiameter: The Past and Future of a “Disruptive Innovation.” He went on to win the Overall Award in 2014 with Value Selling at SKF Service (A): Tough Buyer Confronts Strategy, and most recently, in 2025, he received the Marketing award for Nespresso: Strategy Reset for Growth – The Youth Market.
Michel made his fifth appearance in the ranking this year. In 2025, he was recognized with the Outstanding Case Writer Prize for his case AMAG: Creating Its Own Future in a Disrupted Automotive Industry, further underlining his contribution to the field.
Farber enters the list for the first time in 2024/2025, confirming her growing impact as a case writer. She previously won the Outstanding Case Writer Award in 2022 for Angaza: A Silicon Valley Journey, and in 2025 she received the Outstanding Compact Case Award for Not So Black and White: Grupo Inca’s Black Alpaca Dilemma.
In 2024, more than 230,000 cases were sold globally, highlighting the enduring value of the case method in management education.
