Frustrated by the limitations of using technology to do good in the non-profit sector, Lotta Relander decided to found Grownate, a digital platform that helps corporates and brands connect with their customers to make a positive social and environmental impact.
The platform includes a loyalty program and donation tool to jointly raise money for a good cause and helps brands raise awareness of their commitment to sustainability.
Relander and Grownate’s CEO Andrea Fritschi discuss the challenge of finding the right decision-makers within big companies when pitching your product, as well as their long-term aim of triggering organizational change and reducing the barriers to doing good.

With a background in private equity investment management and business development, Andrea has made sustainability an integral part of her work. Her expertise in catalyzing business growth and transformation extends across both large corporates and SMEs. Serving as the CEO of Grownate, a digital platform that aims to connect corporates, consumers and organizations to jointly engage on sustainability, she confronts ESG challenges head-on. This position has provided her valuable insights into the fundamental issues businesses face, alongside the rising demands from investors, consumers, and employees.

Charlotta’s commitment to integrating sustainability in her work covers multiple domains, from her work with non-profit organizations to impact investments and start-ups. Her expertise extends to both the operational side, gained from hands-on experience in the field, as well as strategic advisory roles. Charlotta understands the fundamental challenges faced by corporates bringing strategy to successful execution. Driven by her strong belief in needs-based innovation, she is particularly drawn to digital solutions promoting societal well-being. As a result of her passion, Charlotta co-founded Grownate, aiming to directly address these critical issues and drive positive change.

Jim Pulcrano is an IMD Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management. His current projects include teaching in Lausanne, London and Silicon Valley, research on disruption, and various strategy, networking, customer-centricity, and innovation mandates with multinationals in Europe, Asia, and the US. At IMD, He is Director of the Venture Capital Asset Management (VCAM) program and teaches on the Executive MBA (EMBA), Orchestrating Winning Performance (OWP), and full-time MBA programs.
