Nancy Lane

Nancy Lane is a Senior Researcher & Writer at IMD, where she has contributed her thought leadership, expertise in applied research and writing, and case study development for over 20 years. Her work focuses on how organizational culture enables strategy execution, with particular emphasis on leadership and strategic leadership.

She specializes in translating complex organizational challenges and executive education programs into compelling case narratives, including multiple award-winning submissions for the EFMD Excellence in Practice Awards. Through this work, she captures and articulates the drivers of transformation and impact in leading organizations.

Nancy has authored and co-authored numerous case studies, books, and practitioner and academic articles published in outlets such as Sloan Management Review, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and the International Journal of Organizational Analysis. Her expertise includes case study development and writing, practitioner-oriented thought leadership, video case study production, and qualitative research methodologies, including semi-structured interviews and organizational analysis.

Before joining IMD, Nancy worked in the financial services industry. She is a native English speaker and near-fluent in French, and is trained as a coach in decoding group dynamics and the NEO personality profile.

Nancy holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
