World Competitiveness Yearbook 2017
The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) is the leading annual report on the competitiveness of countries and has been published by IMD since 1989. It benchmarks the performance of 63 economies based on more than 340 criteria measuring different facets of competitiveness. Starting this year, the WCY also includes, along with the Competitiveness ranking and country profiles, the IMD Digital Competitiveness Ranking. This newly branded ranking analyzes and ranks the extent to which countries adopt and explore digital technologies leading to transformation in government practices, business models and society in general. To do so, the new ranking is based on 50 selected criteria, one third of which are new data (i.e. indicators not included in the World Competitiveness ranking). The IMD Digital Competitiveness Ranking report is also provided as a separate PDF and can be downloaded for free here.
There are four main sections in the World Competitiveness Yearbook:
The Competitiveness Ranking is complemented by several breakdowns of the overall ranking. For example, rankings split by population size, by wealth or by region (Europe-Middle East-Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas). In addition, the five-year evolution of overall and factor rankings is available.
Competitiveness Country profiles
For each of the 63 countries, we have conducted an in-depth analysis showing overall performance, challenges, the competitiveness landscape, greatest improvements and biggest declines, strengths and weaknesses, and evolution.
Digital Competitiveness Rankings
The Digital Competitiveness ranking is also complemented by several breakdowns of the overall ranking. For example, rankings split by population size, by wealth or by region (Europe-Middle East-Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas). In addition, the five-year evolution of overall and factor rankings is available.
Digital Competitiveness Country profiles
For each of the 63 countries, we produced an in-depth analysis showing the overall performance (overtime, at factor and sub-factor level), their strengths and weaknesses.
We have created criteria rankings of the 63 countries (over 340 tables) to enable easy country comparisons.
Texts on competitiveness analysis, methodology, FAQs, a list of all the information providers and detailed notes and sources are also provided.
Statistical tables and list of sources are provided only on PDF format in the USB key drive available on the cover of the Yearbook.
