IBM, under CEO Ginni Rometty, is trying to transform itself into a cloud and cognitive computing services company. This huge shift requires a culture change that, Rometty argues, the company is well-positioned to deliver because IBM has done it before under former CEO Lou Gerstner. This case examines what IBM needs to learn from how it managed to change its culture under Gerstner and what other companies can learn from the experience as well.
