Future proofing and turbocharging organizations – IMD wins coveted award

The Brandon Hall Group has awarded IMD for cases by faculty on change strategy and innovative learning programs for its Excellence Awards
December 2019

IMD Professor Robert Hooijberg and Research Associate Nancy Lane were recognized for their case Future-proofing the AIA Investment function: A partnership between AIA, ALC and IMD. It won a 2019 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Gold Award in the category Best Learning Program Supporting a Change Transformation Business Strategy.

The case showcases how the AIA Group’s Investment department, its Leadership Centre (ALC) and IMD business school together developed and delivered a series of workshops over 18 months to become “future-proof”. The team needed to ensure its ability to continuously adapt to both a dynamic investment market and rapidly changing business conditions. It also needed to keep pace with growth in the underlying insurance business and new regulations while developing new skills and capabilities.

IMD Professor Tawfik Jelassi and P.C. Abraham’s case Turkcell & IMD: Turbocharging a Digital Business Transformation also won a 2019 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Gold Award in the category Best Innovative Learning and Development Program.

Turkcell transformed itself from a network operator to a digital operator to respond to challenges that threatened its leading position in mobile communications in Turkey. The Turkcell Global Leadership Program equipped the company’s leaders to pursue the journey and spread a common understanding across the company of what it would look like. As a result, Turkcell was able to successfully complete its transformation into a digital operator in late 2018.

The Brandon Hall Group has also selected the IMD online program Disruptive Innovation for a Silver award in the Excellence in Technology category. The program helps participants learn concrete techniques to help them nurture a culture of innovation within a team or organization, by maximizing the talent and creativity of those around them. It is directed by Professor Bill Fischer, member of the Thinkers50 Hall of Fame.
