Professor of Management, Dean of Faculty and Research Stefan Michel hosted The Case Centre Awards ceremony during the 2026 IMD EMBA reunion in Lausanne, Switzerland, bringing together alumni, faculty, and guests.
This year, three IMD-authored cases were recognized across major categories, reflecting the breadth and relevance of IMD’s research and executive education.
“These three awards bring the total number of awards IMD has received from The Case Centre to 50. It is a real pleasure to celebrate IMD’s rigorous research and the impact of the cases being written here,” said Vicky Lester, CEO of The Case Centre, who presented the awards.
In the Finance, Accounting and Control category, IMD elea Professor of Social Innovation Vanina Farber and IMD elea Center for Social Innovation senior fellow María Helena Jaén were honored for their case Finance for a sustainable society at Triodos Investment Management: An ESG portfolio investment decision.
Written by IMD Professor of Strategy and Supply Chain Management Carlos Cordon and Nick Georgiev, Apple’s supply chain transformation was selected as the winner in the Production and Operations Management category. Cordon will feature his case in a special session during the EMBA reunion.
Finally, Has Nike lost its stride?, written by IMD Term Research Professor Ivy Buche and dentsu Group Professor of Strategy and Marketing Goutam Challagalla, won the Outstanding Case Writer competition award.
During the ceremony, Michel highlighted the central role of case writing in the EMBA experience: “Case study is the opposite of lecturing. We want to use the 1000 years of experience in an EMBA classroom.”
In 2025, over 234,000 IMD cases were sold globally, a testament to the school’s case writing excellence and impact.
