Case Study

Canon Europe: Pan-European transformation (B)

5 pages
June 2004
Reference: IMD-3-1075

The B-case looks at the mandate given to four task forces to come up with a pan-European solution. Based on their recommendations, the CEO designed a pan-European organizational blueprint for Canon Europe. The case looks at the pre-implementation activities of the organization as it prepared for change. Was the design for a pan-European organization the correct one? What would be the best approach to implement change–incrementally or big bang? Was the organization ready to rapidly implement the plan?
