IMD is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Quigley as Professor of Strategic Leadership and Governance.

Quigley’s work focuses on corporate governance, particularly on strategic management, the role of CEOs, CEO succession, and how their impact is influenced by prior personal and organizational factors.

“I’m honored to join IMD, a place where leadership research and education consistently shape global practice. What draws me here is the opportunity to work with exceptional colleagues and world-class executives who embody IMD’s mission of challenging what is and inspiring what could be,” shares Quigley. “I’ve always focused my research and teaching on delivering practical, actionable insights for leaders, and IMD offers a unique platform to translate that work into even greater impact.”

As a management educator, Quigley prepares leaders to make well-informed decisions in demanding and rapidly evolving environments. He highlights how cognitive blind spots can influence individual decision-making and examines how organizational culture can impact decision efficiency and corporate success. Additionally, he equips leaders with conceptual frameworks and statistical methods that support sound decision-making.

His research has been published in leading academic journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, and Organization Science, and covered in media outlets such as BusinessWeek, the Financial Times, and The Washington Post.

Prior to joining IMD, Quigley was Georgia Athletic Association Professor of Management at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business. He joined academia after a successful corporate career in nonprofit, IT, and consulting roles.
