Case Study

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.: Managing knowledge and quality

18 pages
April 2000
Reference: IMD-3-0843

This case focuses on “what” Samsung Electronics did to build its technological capabilities and achieve outstanding quality of products. This case is the continuation of the case (A), GM 841, and the case (B), GM 842; however, it can be used as a stand-alone case. Thus, this case can be used in two ways. The first is to be used to look at Samsung Electronics after the cases (A) and (B). The second way is to be used to look at how Samsung Electronic managed its technological knowledge and quality. Like GM 841and GM 842, this case is written from Samsung’s point of view and raises issues regarding its strategy on managing technological knowledge and quality.
