SLB CEO Olivier Le Peuch has called AI “the X-factor for our industry,” framing it as central to the company’s digital transition. In September 2024, the company announced a collaboration with Nvidia to build generative AI foundation models for subsurface exploration and production workflows. SLB also joined ADNOC Drilling and Patterson-UTI to form Turnwell Industries, a UAE venture using “AI smart drilling design, completions engineering and production solutions” to develop unconventional resources.  

At the product level, it launched its OptiSite™ solution in January 2025 that integrates digital twins and predictive AI across production networks. Internally, predictive maintenance and emissions monitoring tools have been extended through SLB’s sustainability platform, developed with Aramco, for real-time flare and carbon tracking. On workforce readiness, SLB established an AI Academy in 2024 and partnered with Dataiku®, certifying thousands of employees in data science and AI.
