We are thrilled to announce that IMD has received the 2025 Graduate Business Curriculum Roundtable (GBCR) MBA Curricular Innovator Award for its AI-generated Transversal Skills Report initiative.
The recognition highlights IMD’s leadership in reimagining MBA education for an AI-driven era and its commitment to developing leaders who transform organizations for a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive world.
“We asked ourselves: ‘How can we best prepare our students for an AI-enhanced world?’ Our conclusion was to reinforce in our curriculum those attributes that make us intrinsically human; the ability to think strategically and to communicate effectively,” said Omar Toulan, Dean of the MBA program. “This award serves to highlight the importance of reinforcing the development of humanistic skills.”
The award recognizes IMD’s redesigned MBA program for its strong focus on strengthening participants’ capabilities across 10 transversal skills deemed essential for leading in today’s AI-transformed world.
To track and develop these abilities, IMD introduced AI-generated reports that continuously measure progress and provide personalized feedback to students.
Since their launch in April 2025, the AI-generated Transversal Skills Reports have provided students with specific feedback and suggestions on how to improve in the skills areas, thereby contributing to their learning journey.
The innovation has attracted praise from Poets&Quants, who named IMD’s MBA its Program of the Year, commending Toulan and the program’s leadership for “reimagining what an MBA curriculum should be for this new, modern era.”
IMD was also recognized as runner-up in the Specialized Master’s Curricular Innovation category for the launch of its two new Executive Master programs.
The Graduate Business Curriculum Roundtable is a global association dedicated to advancing graduate management education through curricular and co-curricular innovation. The GBCR Innovator Award was created to highlight institutions driving meaningful continuous improvements and informs about the innovative practices in MBA and specialized master’s programs.
