Reference: IMD-6-0254

The Managing Director (MD) of a now successful Scottish sheet metal fabrication company has to contemplate a variety of short- and long-term issues. The company in the past 10 years has undergone a tremendous turnaround – from near bankruptcy to award-winning supplier. The entire company has taken on a new mentality. The MD now faces a fast-eroding economy for his high tech customers and must decide how to get back to profitability. In addition, the company faces diverse issues that range from themes for the next few years to policies on absenteeism, wardrobe allowances, and smoking. The case forces the student to think about the entire gamut of typical manufacturing issues for a company that has changed its character completely.
