The first wave of digital disruption was led by digital giants like Apple, Google, and Amazon. Much of it was focused on building powerful ‘winner take all’ platforms. The focus of the disruption was largely on B2C sectors, and most of the corporate response was led by marketing or IT. We have now entered the second wave of disruption. This wave is less focused on digital giants and more focused on how traditional, legacy companies can transform themselves and their value chains. In this wave, B2B businesses are as active as B2C companies, and the transformation has extended to all parts of the business. Michael Wade, Director of IMD’s Global Center for Digital Business Transformation will explore how to win in this next wave of digital disruption.
