Cognitive Technology, as was demonstrated by Watson (yes, how else from IBM, a computer) during the American television quiz Jeopardy, processes information more like a human than a computer—by understanding natural language, generating hypotheses based on evidence, and learning as it goes. The value of cognitive technology isn’t just that it responds rapidly to questions in human language, but that its answers can generate a new set of questions, giving insight into opportunity or risk.
