2024 IMD Global Family Business Award is open for nominations

The nominations are now open for the 2024 edition of the IMD Global Family Business Award, supported by award partners Chopard and the Family Business Network.
January 2024

Until 31 March 2024, family businesses can be nominated – or nominate themselves – for the most renowned accolade in the field since its launch in 1996.

To enter, nominated businesses must have reached the third generation of family succession as well as an international presence and a yearly turnover of at least $0.5bn.

In 2023, Thermax, from India, received top honors as a worldwide reference in providing sustainable solutions in energy and environment. The jury praised Thermax’s expansion across what is now more than 90 countries, as well as the level of engagement with its employees and the ability to navigate the delicate balance between family values and shareholders’ interests.

“It is always an enriching experience to receive nominations for the IMD Global Family Business Award. It’s an interesting snapshot of well-run family businesses from around the world,” says Award Director and Director of the IMD Global Family Business Center Peter Vogel.

“We’re looking forward to getting to know even more interesting success stories this year.”

In selecting the winner, the award jury panel – comprising former winners and academic experts in the field of family business – will be looking at a range of criteria, including family values, governance, cohesion between family and business interests, tradition, innovation, and social impact.

The winner will be announced in October at the FBN Global Summit in Tokyo, Japan.

A selection of previous winners includes (in alphabetical order): Ayala – Barilla – Bavaria – Bel – Bonnier – Brown-Forman – Carvajal – Dachser – De Agostini Group – Firmenich – Grundfos – Henkel – Hermès – Jebsen & Jessen – JM Huber – Lego – Merck – Murugappa – Pentland Group plc – Puig – Roca – SC Johnson – Thermax – Votorantim – Yazaki – Zegna.

About the award partners

In 1999, the Swiss watch and jewelry maker Chopard joined forces with IMD and has since contributed the beautifully crafted trophy of the IMD Global Family Business Award.

The Family Business Network (FBN) was founded in 1989 and spans 65 countries, with a community of 4,000 business families. FBN provides the perfect platform to celebrate the worthy award winners.
