Financial aid

IMD supports about half of our MBA participants by granting scholarships or loans. The total amount of scholarships available each year is around CHF500'000 and CHF 1.3 million for loans.

The maximum financial aid awarded per admitted candidate is CHF 65,000.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide financial aid for everyone, so we strongly recommend that you seek alternative sources where possible.

Here are some options for external funding.

IMD loans

We work with a Swiss bank to provide loans to candidates who demonstrate no alternative sources of funding. If you have financial need, we encourage you to submit your loan request as soon as you receive an IMD MBA offer in order to accelerate a pre-assessment of your financial need. In order to apply you need to:

  • Gain acceptance into the IMD MBA
  • Confirm your intention to participate in the program by paying the advance deposit of CHF 15,000
  • Complete the MBA Financial aid application form and send it to IMD in excel version with the following documents:
    • Proof of salary: A letter from your employer stating your annual salary or your last 3 salary slips
    • Tax return from the past 2 years
    • Latest statements for all your bank accounts for the past 6 months
  • Read and accept the loan conditions and terms

The deadline to apply for loans is October 30 or November 15 for the September deadline applicants.

IMD scholarships

IMD offers a variety of merit and need-based MBA scholarships. Applicants may apply to several simultaneously, however, only one scholarship can be awarded per candidate. Scholarships are granted subject to nomination by the scholarship selection committee, acceptance into the program and confirmation of your intention to participate in the program by paying the advance deposit. The deadline to apply for any scholarship is September 30.

In order to apply please ensure that you:
