IMD business school for management and leadership courses
A February 2025 strategy update highlights that Engie has “ramped up” investments in data, digital, and AI capabilities, which “will play a fundamental role in boosting its performance and competitiveness.” In practice, Engie is embedding AI across its business. Its Global Hypervision Center uses AI to monitor 1,000+ renewable assets worldwide in real time, improving uptime and emission performance. Engie’s Global Market Access trading platform (EGMA) similarly applies data analytics for fast power and gas transactions. Other applications include AI-powered drones for wind/solar maintenance and AI algorithms for battery operations and urban heating network optimization.
To build AI skills, Engie runs company-wide training and hackathons: all 100,000+ employees get basic AI training and are encouraged to apply “an AI mindset” to their work. Engie also engages in industry dialogues on AI governance: leaders from Engie Research & Innovation co-hosted panels at France’s AI Action Summit (Feb 2025), stressing AI’s efficiency gains for greener infrastructure while calling for rigorous safeguards and transparency.
