NextEra CEO John Ketchum has underscored the importance of keeping an eye on changing technology and joined the AI Infrastructure Partnership in March 2025 to develop and support energy infrastructure needed for AI’s growth. On the operations side, NextEra is applying advanced analytics to its renewables fleet and is leveraging AI for predictive maintenance and generation forecasting. In 2024, the company reported multi‐gigawatt renewable deals with tech firms (e.g., an 860 MW Google agreement) to prepare for AI-driven power needs.  

To prepare its workforce, NextEra runs robust innovation programs. An annual Hack Week encourages employees to prototype new ideas, and innovation summits keep staff up to speed on emerging technologies.
