Experience & Background

Achim Plueckebaum is a global, entrepreneurial senior executive with strong experience in the life sciences industry, combining a highly successful CIO and business-leader digital/data career track, with additional experience in management and startup consulting and finance/M&A. 

Plueckebaum enjoys articulating data, digital, and technology contexts into P&L to create impactful business strategies and new business models, working constantly with teams on the ground and with executive business leadership, including boards. He has a proven track record in large-scale business transformations (>$250m) in life science R&D, M&S, and IT at both Sanofi (eight years) and Novartis (17 years), applying disruptive technology innovation from top-level strategy to full end-to-end execution, leading teams of 500+ FTEs. 

Besides his current CIO role at Bachem (a leading CMO in the life sciences industry), Plueckebaum embeds data and AI in life sciences through advisory and board roles at the intersection between innovative startups and pharma.

Achim holds a master’s degree in information systems from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA and an MBA from the University of Giessen, Germany, and Napier University, Edinburgh, Scotland.
