You are kindly invited to join the following online session organized by the IMD Alumni Club of Silicon Valley in collaboration with the IMD Alumni Clubs of Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, New England, New York and Peru: Flattening the Carbon Emissions Curve: How Technology, Entrepreneurship, and You Can Address the Climate Crisis with Sandeep Nijhawan, Founder and CEO, ElectraSteel In this timely talk, our own IMD MBA alumnus Sandeep Nijhawan, will provide a macro perspective on promising technology and entrepreneurship driven solutions to fight climate change, as well as our role as individuals and leaders in addressing this existential crisis. Since completing his MBA in 2004, Sandeep Nijhawan has been professionally working at the cross-section of entrepreneurship, venture investments, and technology startups. Most recently in May 2020, Sandeep founded ElectraSteel, a company backed by leading sustainability focused venture capital investors with the mission to electrify steelmaking, a trillion-dollar market, using renewable energy and help eliminate 3 giga-ton or 5% of global carbon-dioxide emissions per year. Prior to founding ElectraSteel, Sandeep was founder of Staq Energy and President of AquaHydrex, two venture-backed startups developing utility-scale batteries to store renewable energy and to convert excess renewable energy to hydrogen, respectively and a Partner at True North Venture Partners, a sustainability-focused venture capital fund. In 2011, Sandeep was part of the executive management team of Intermolecular (IPO on NASDAQ market), a company providing high-productivity combinatorial technology products and services. Prior to joining Intermolecular, Sandeep was the founder and CEO of Siorah, a venture-capital backed LED startup that was acquired by Intermolecular and at Applied Materials, where he led the company’s LED lighting business from its incubation as the group’s General Manager and product-line head. Sandeep earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, MBA from the International Institute of Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland and B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India.
