In this Book Club, Professors Katharina Lange and Dovev Lavie will discuss the urgent societal problems related to wealth concentration, loss of data privacy, and overconsumption, which have been reinforced by globalization. They will consider current solutions such as public policy, sustainability programs, regulation, legislation, and taxation, suggesting that these are insufficient and in need of more radical change.Â
Lavie will share his ideas about possible solutions, detailing some of the design principles, elements, and values that guide the cooperative economy, with its distinct features that distinguish it from capitalism and communism, and share some preliminary findings that support the ideas and their implementation.Â
The talk will conclude with some takeaways concerning the role of digital platforms and the actions that business leaders and consumers can take to promote the cooperative economy. Â
