Get ready to think more strategically and develop an effective strategy for your business, or organizational unit, by determining what makes your business unit distinctive and developing it to capture growth opportunities. This course enables you to:
- Undertake a strategic diagnosis of your part of the business so that you uncover unique capabilities, weaknesses, threats and opportunities
- Identify meaningful strategic alternatives for your business unit, performance moves to improve the top and bottom lines, new business models and strategic innovations to outpace the competition
- Make the right strategic choices by evaluating the execution risks and assessing the value-creating potential
Who should attend
This program is designed for executives who are taking over increasingly significant strategic responsibilities within their organization and who are grappling with the challenges of thinking strategically.
You start with strategic diagnostics applied to a detailed example and then to your business unit. As your learning journey progresses, you will be equipped to think through strategic alternatives and generate a range of strategic perspectives at both company and industry level. You will be encouraged to think about strategic experiments and options and analyse execution risks. You will apply the lessons to your own business context and will be able to identify capability and resource gaps in terms of executing your own strategy. You will be challenged to test your assumptions and open yourself to new ways of examining strategic possibilities. You will leave the program with a clear strategic roadmap and a 60-day action plan for the journey ahead.
Individual assignments, personalized feedback from your coach, virtual group work, case studies, readings, video summaries, peer reviews with other strategic leaders from across the globe and personal reflection moments are combined to stimulate your thinking, unlock insights, change habits, and firmly embed the learning in your organization’s strategy.

You can develop a current project from your own business and apply what you learn to your context
You get IMD certification and become part of the outstanding professional IMD Alumni network
8 weeks of study, 4-6 hours per week.
The flexible schedule allows you to access the material in your own time and study at your pace. You must successfully complete all weekly assignments in order to finish the program and gain IMD certification.
