SGS: Execution in action (B)

2 pages
December 2004
Reference: IMD-3-1443

Richard Blundell, Vice President of SGS’s global environment business, had been given the task of globally commercializing one of SGS’s Spanish businesses. It was an ambitious project, where both the competencies and the customers of this new business would be a step away from the original core capabilities found in Spain. There was a strong imperative for success, as the project was the first to emerge from an organizational initiative launched by the new CEO. The case examines the steps Blundell took to ensure effective execution of the project.
