21 pages
August 1998
Reference: IMD-3-0761

Cokoladovny was a Czech manufacturer of chocolate, biscuits, and sweet confectionery products. The company was privatized in 1992 and sold to a unique joint venture between Nestli and Danone, each owning 50% of the company. The case highlights actions Cokoladovny took to become competitive in a market environment. In addition, it asks the question: where should Cokoladovny look for growth. The company was subsequently split into chocolates/Nestli and biscuits /Danone in June, 1998.
