Lausanne, Switzerland, 12 September 2018 – IMD has won a coveted Brandon Hall Group Gold award for excellence in the Best Use of Blended Learning category for the submission entry ‘Hilti & IMD: An Outperforming partnership to accelerate professional development.’

In 2016, construction supplier Hilti commissioned IMD to create a business education section of its 2-year rotational graduate trainee ‘Outperformer program’, which it runs to turn high-potential executives into the company’s future leaders. The challenge was providing the best and most impactful learning experience but also allowing participants to continue to perform at their jobs all over the world.

IMD responded by blending carefully selected segments of its suite of highly-personalized and interactive online-based programs, what it calls Online Programs for Executives, with on-campus learning to create a curriculum that was tailored to Hilti’s development needs. One of the key elements of IMD’s Online Program for Executives is that participants have coaches following them and providing individualized feedback. There is also ample opportunity for group and pair work with other participants.

We are delighted to receive this accolade, recognizing the impact of our programs. Increasingly organizations are looking for bespoke blended solutions that combine the best of digital with the best of face-to-face. The combination of IMD’s online programs and classroom interaction provides a convenient, flexible and fully immersive experience,” said Paul Hunter, Director, Digital Learning

IMD President, Jean-François Manzoni, stated“It is very stimulating and fulfilling for us to work with an organization that is as committed as Hilti to developing its employees and to creating a vibrant work environment. Hilti consistently wins “Best employer” awards, and we are delighted to collaborate with them on yet another award-winning initiative.”

IMD was able to translate Hilti’s requirements into a dynamic program fully tailored to our requirements. The modular nature of the program with IMD made it so we were able to adapt it to our company’s strategy”, stated Eivind Slaaen, Head of People and Culture Development, Hilti “The program design evolved to focus on issues that were important to Hilti, and continue to innovate and improve the design based on real-time”.

The award entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts and executives based upon the following criteria: fit the need, design of the program, functionality, innovation, and overall measurable benefits.

Excellence Award winners personify innovation that drives business results. Our winners embrace the future and embrace change and the challenges that go with it,” said Rachel Cooke, Chief Operating Officer of Brandon Hall Group and head of the awards program. “It is amazing in reviewing these entries how organizations – both large and small – work across functions to make human capital management a valuable asset that enables business success.”

Excellence Awards winners will be honored at Brandon Hall Group’s HCM Excellence Conference, January 23-25, 2019, at the Hilton West Palm Beach in Florida. Select winners also will serve as presenters in breakout sessions sharing their leading practices during the 2½-day conference.
