Our People
IMD’s culture is open, collaborative and very entrepreneurial.
Life on campus is intellectually stimulating and free from hierarchy. We have a lot of freedom but are also held accountable for results. To me, this is healthy empowerment.
Working at IMD presents a truly unique opportunity to work alongside our world-class faculty every day. I greatly benefit from their knowledge and research, which is helping me learn more and stretch myself.
There are other advantages too. I’ve been lucky enough to connect with senior Global Executives, who have contributed to my personal and professional development over the years.
I will never forget when I joined IMD some 18 years ago. In my early days, I encountered an issue that required my client’s help to solve.
The faculty I worked with said, “call the CEO and ask”.
I was dumbstruck. He gave me the trust and responsibility to reach out to the CEO, despite being a new recruit.
When given these opportunities at IMD, make sure you accept them. They will stand you in good stead as you nurture your career, and give you a chance to expand your network at an accelerated speed.
Given we are constantly exposed to interesting conversations about strategic and organizational issues with leaders, we are always challenged to learn, grow and thrive.
Together with my colleagues, we are able to combine our knowledge to address the challenges these leaders face and as a result we can have a direct and meaningful impact on their business.
The ongoing dialogue with leaders allows us to have an impact on their decision making and thereby sparks change within organizations. It is through collective learning that we can change the world one step at a time.
As I worked for the Support team, I knew that we were constantly evolving to follow the new technologies.
Now that I work on the back end it is even more important to be involved in the early stages of delivery and to be able to deliver the best infrastructure for the other teams to perform their tasks.
IMD allows you to grow in your field of activity – and I’m the perfect example that if you are motivated IMD will trust you and give you your opportunity.
If you are ready to seize development opportunities at IMD, the institute will be your enabler and sponsor.
I joined IMD as a Research Associate back in 2014. I was working with faculty on case studies – several of which went on to win prestigious awards.
Working at IMD gives me plenty of opportunities to learn from the best and brightest. Unlike other business schools, IMD has a very strong anchor in the business world. Its expansive network has allowed me to gain valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of our clients.
When I moved into a role collaborating with the faculty who lead business transformation journeys, I found myself learning on the job continuously. The strategic conversations at the C-suite level were particularly enlightening.
Through my client-related diagnostics work, I nurtured my qualitative analysis skills to develop deep insights and diverse perspectives that I could incorporate into my research. I then transitioned from case writing to co-authoring practitioner articles, which have been published in Harvard Business Review.
Thanks to my faculty references and publications at IMD, I was accepted into the Global Executive PhD program at ESCP, Paris – one of the FT’s Top 10 European Business Schools – and am now in my third year.
It’s plain exhilarating to work with global brands and advise them on their Equity, Inclusion & Diversity journey.
Bringing to the table more than 20 years of D&I experience with leading corporations, I feel like I can contribute in a tangible way to the value of our strong brand. This is incredibly rewarding.
IMD prides itself on hosting more than 50 nationalities on campus at any time, and we ensure everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued for who they are.
There is no ‘code switching’ at IMD; you are encouraged to keep your unique identity, and will feel a strong sense of belonging and participation from the outset.
Whether you are staff, faculty, or a participant, IMD strives to be truly representative of the world we operate in, and ‘walk the talk’ of inclusion and inclusive leadership.
IMD has pushed my curiosity and willingness to learn.
By simply spending time around the faculty and students, I have developed an awareness and knowledge of many topics that I can apply to my work and personal growth.
I started at IMD in the middle of the pandemic. At first, I was wondering how I was going to work with people I had never met.
After the first phone call, I realized IMD is a big family and we all work hand-in-hand for the same goal.
I now know that I am part of a diverse and fascinating community.
As a program coordinator, you have the power to make participants feel at home during the program and find solutions for all their needs. As a training manager, I can empower people to succeed in their role and support them on their journey.
Amongst the Operations Team you are part of a family, helping each other to succeed in your daily work. Taking more responsibilities gave me the opportunity to impact the personal and professional development of my colleagues, understanding their needs, wishes, issues and to look together for improvements.
Our faculty and professionals are the best in class, that’s the reason why they are at IMD – and they always find time for participants and their colleagues. They are experts in their fields, love to be challenged by participants and, like us, are always looking for improvements, and feedback to develop our institution. You can really see the impact on participants, and indirectly on all of us, from the first day to the last day of the program.
