In early January 2024, BYD unveiled its Integrated Vehicle Intelligence Strategy, built on the XUANJI Architecture, an AI-powered “brain” capable of millisecond-level data processing for real-time vehicle decision-making.

Complemented by the XUANJI AI Large Model, this system supports over 300 driving scenarios and enables continuous learning. In early 2025, BYD launched the DiPilot God’s Eye intelligent driving system, integrating LiDAR, radar, and cameras across 21 models – including budget vehicles – offering features such as automated parking, highway navigation, and autonomous overtaking at no additional cost, intensifying competition with Tesla and Huawei.

To support these advancements, BYD established a new Advanced Technology R&D Center with over 500 specialists in AI, machine learning, and supercomputing, part of a broader $13.7bn R&D commitment. AI is also embedded in operations, reducing battery defects by 40% and boosting production throughput by 30%. Beyond vehicles, BYD is recruiting global talent in embodied AI and robotics, expanding applications in manufacturing and logistics.
