IMD business school for management and leadership courses

In 2023, Meta doubled down on its commitment to AI, signaling a pivotal shift in the company’s strategy. CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s vision centers around positioning Meta as an AI leader, supported by the development of advanced AI models, such as Llama 3, and investing in developing world-class computer infrastructure.

Despite the challenges and criticisms it faces, Meta has remained steadfast in its open-source AI strategy. It released its Llama models to the public; while keeping specific product implementations proprietary, a move designed to foster innovation and establish industry standards. Meta’s extensive data resources, drawn from billions of public posts on Facebook and Instagram, provide a significant advantage in training these models. The Meta AI assistant, powered by the advanced Llama 3, is seamlessly integrated into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger offering users AI-powered capabilities to enhance their interactions and experience.

Meta AI, Meta’s AI research lab, is led by Yann LeCunn – a renowned computer scientist and pioneer in deep learning. The lab has delivered various breakthroughs, which have revolutionized image and video recognition tasks.
