LEADERSHIP & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Faculty: Jack Wood and Martha Maznevski

Become a more effective leader by increasing your self-awareness.

Leading people
Learn how to work with people of different functional backgrounds, multiple types of organisations and conflicting groups to achieve your goals.

  • understand interactions between different groups
  • explore the decisions and trade-offs leaders make when faced with challenging dilemmas and conflicting objectives
  • design an integrated vision and develop action plans to get the support of diverse groups.

Outdoor exercises
High intensity outdoor leadership group work and team-building exercises provide an effective method for leadership development:

  • learn how you and your team perform under pressure and how you can be more effective
  • openly explore behavioral factors - the more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you will learn
  • enhance your capacity to lead responsibly by understanding the rational and emotional factors at work in groups

Personal leadership development
Understand and develop your capacity to exercise leadership responsibly; develop your self-awareness; identify your strengths; and learn how to lead teams through:

  • your Personal & Professional Identity Narrative (PPIN)
  • in-depth self-analysis through self-reflective papers
  • individual and team coaching
  • peer reviews on your strengths and weaknesses
  • optional confidential sessions with a trained psychoanalyst (personal development elective)

Videos
Alumni talk about their leadership experience at IMD and the personal development elective (20 sessions with a trained psycho-analyst)
