The IMD Executive MBA (EMBA) is a modular, part-time degree program for experienced professionals who want to develop their strategic thinking and leadership skills to advance their career. It combines in-person learning on campuses in Switzerland, Singapore and additional global immersion modules, with online learning and applied in-company assignments for direct career impact.

The EMBA program is designed for ambitious professionals aged 35 or older with at least 10 years of work experience, strong management experience, consistent career progressions, and demonstrated leadership potential. The curriculum is highly customizable, so each participant can tailor their learning to their own needs and ambitions.

The IMD EMBA is a part-time, modular program designed for working executives. Participants continue working while studying, attending scheduled in-person and online modules, rather than pausing their careers.

The part-time EMBA is designed for experienced professionals with a minimum of 10 years work experience, who want to continue working while studying. The full-time MBA is for earlier-career professionals (less than 10 years of work experience) who want to study without ongoing work commitments. An EMBA is generally a better fit for candidates that already have significant work experience, since it builds on existing management expertise.

Most participants complete the EMBA degree within 20 months, depending on the elective options they choose.

The IMD EMBA curriculum is action-based rather than lecture-driven, meaning participants apply concepts discussed in class to their own business context and challenges as they progress through the program, for immediate relevancy and impact. The program is designed to be highly personalized, through in-company assignments, personal coaching, and flexible electives offering multiple topics and locations, so each participant’s learning journey is unique.
