LEARNING METHODS

Learn more. Do more. Become more.

The new IMD MBA incorporates rapid and integrated cycles of learning, planning, doing and reflecting that effectively prepare you to lead in today's complex and changing environment.

The action learning cycle
Repeated application of theory and practice give you the knowledge, intuition and skills to move beyond the tools. You can then use your judgement to successfully operate a business and lead people and organizations under challenging conditions.

  • use your knowledge and skills to plan an action
  • carry out the action
  • observe what happens
  • reflect on the outcomes
  • build your reflections into new knowledge and skills

Real World. Real Learning
The program, taught in English, covers the same amount of material as a traditional 2-year program.

  • Master the business fundamentals in everything you do
  • Case studies are excellent learning tools because there is no single, correct solution to complex business problems.  At IMD, half your cases are live with guest speakers talking about real issues
  • Work on four different real world projects - different company stages, sizes, industries and international contexts
  • Experience and develop leadership in action every day
  • Participate in selected executive programs, including OWP - IMD's Orchestrating Winning Performance program which offers world-class networking.
  • Build your international network with classmates, alumni, Faculty, guest speakers and IMD's corporate network.

Collaboration/teamwork
Your 89 classmates have 600+ years of collective diverse and international experience: a valuable resource. Throughout the IMD MBA you work in small teams, sharing knowledge and experiences and learning to overcome the cultural and personality differences that arise in a diverse, multinational group of people.

Personalized approach

  • Participant to Faculty ratio 2:1
  • Optional 20 one-hour confidential sessions with a trained psychoanalyst
  • Individual career counsellor
  • Participant to Recruiter ratio 1.5:1
  • Develop a personal project during the year

The evaluation process
Your performance in several areas is evaluated:

  • class participation
  • group work and projects
  • presentations
  • formal exams

Faculty provide regular personal feedback to help participants improve their performance and discover how their limits can be stretched, personally and professionally.

At the end of the program, the MBA degree ‘With Honors’ is awarded to participants whose cumulative performance throughout the program has been judged to be superior.
