Admissions

We look for the best group of 90 mature and globally minded classmates you can learn from and share knowledge with.

Amongst the participants, there are approximately 40 different nationalities. The majority have 4-9 years of work experience in a variety of sectors and are between 27 and 34 years old.

Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • GMAT (80% of our MBA participants score between 620 and 750)
  • A minimum of three years full-time work experience
  • A strong command of written and spoken English
  • At least one language in addition to English

1. Online Application

The MBA online application should be submitted along with supporting documents on the following deadlines: February 1, April 1, June 1, August 1 and September 1

Your written application must demonstrate strong academic ability, solid career progression, international outlook, responsible decision-making, business achievements and real leadership capacity.

Three letters of recommendation should inform about your personality, business achievements and leadership capabilities. At least two should come from business-related sources.

2. Assessment Day

Within 6 weeks after each deadline, we inform you if we would like to meet you for the on-campus Assessment Day.

Lasting a full day, the assessment consists of a personal interview, an impromptu presentation, and a case study discussion. We will have an opportunity to assess your intellectual capabilities, integrity and ability to work with others. You have a chance to evaluate us, meet participants and possibly attend classes.
We also conduct two assessment days abroad:
- Singapore in June 2015 (to be considered, please apply to February or April deadline)
- Sao Paulo in August 2015 (please apply to the February, April or June deadline)

3. Final decision

Within 2 weeks from the Assessment Day, we will contact you with our final decision.

Pricing includes: all teaching materials, personal coaching, travel and accommodation for International Consulting Projects and Discovery Expedition, four-course lunch at IMD five days per week, joint events with executives at IMD.

Approximate living expenses for a single person are CHF 36,000. This estimate includes housing (CHF 18,750) and living expenses CHF 17,250

FINANCIAL AID

Every year, IMD supports about half of the MBA class by granting them scholarships or loans. The total amount of scholarships available each year is around CHF500'000 and CHF 1.3 million for loans.

The maximum financial aid awarded per admitted candidate is CHF 65,000.

LOANS

The IMD MBA finance committee works with a Swiss bank to provide loans to candidates who demonstrate no alternative sources of funding. In order to apply you need to:

SCHOLARSHIPS

IMD's scholarship program offers several type of scholarship according to demographic, geographic or work related criteria. Applicants may apply to several scholarships simultaneously but only one scholarship can be awarded. In order to apply you need to:

MBA Class Scholarship for Emerging Markets  - CHF 200'000 (to be split between the winners of the scholarship)

IMD's MBA program is offering a new and considerable scholarship program to enable young leaders from emerging markets to earn the IMD MBA degree. Scholarships are granted subject to acceptance to the program, demonstrated financial need and nomination by the scholarship selection committee.

Staton Scholarship (x 1) US$ 50,000

For applicants from South America (with the exception of Brazil), on condition that the candidate returns to South America for at least three years after graduation.

IMD MBA Future Leaders Scholarships (x 3) CHF 30,000

IMD MBA Alumni Scholarships (x 5) CHF 30,000

One scholarship is awarded to a citizen, but not necessarily current resident, of each region: Asia, Africa/Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Western Europe/North America/Oceania

    Identify one issue in your region / country which you consider a priority to address. Why would you choose this issue? How would you, as a business leader, personally address it and ensure your action has a sustainable impact?
    Essays should be personal and visionary, and include a clear description of how the solution could be implemented in a sustained manner.

Van Oord Scholarship (x 1) CHF 30,000

For citizens of developing countries whose progress has been strongly influenced by its seaside location, struggle against the water, maritime tradition, river transportation system, etc. Preference for those with a technical background / experience related to marine engineering who wish to return to their countries after graduation.

Nestlé Scholarship for Women (x 1) CHF 25,000
