Teaching Cases

IMD teaching cases are recognized for their rigor and relevance to teaching how organizations and leaders drive and manage sustainable transformation. Several received awards in 2022.

Angaza: A Silicon Valley Journey by Vanina Farber and Shih-Han Huang

EFMD Case Writing Competition Award (African Business Cases)

The Case Centre Competitions Outstanding Case Writer

Farber’s case explores the story of a female social entrepreneur, Lesley Silverthorn Marincola, who transformed her company Angaza from a solar-light producer into a software provider offering pay-as-you-go metering and monitoring technology.

“I love bringing impactful cases with inspiring female protagonists into the classroom. For me, a great case lets the characters and story talk. We don’t tell the reader the ‘right’ course of action. We just bring them into a journey of self-discovery,” said Farber.
