IMD OWP Program, Singapore


IMD’s publications offer world-class research with actionable insights on sustainable business, social innovation, and philanthropy. We also track our impact on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by tagging our publications with the relevant goals addressed.

In 2022, IMD published five articles focusing on sustainability topics in leading FT50 journals:

  • Amanda Williams and Lara Anne Blasberg: SDG platforms as strategic innovation through partnerships, Journal of Business Ethics, August 2022
  • Dorothy E. Leidner, Juliana Sutanto, and Lazaros Goutas: Multifarious roles and conflicts on an interorganizational green IS, MIS Quarterly, March 2022
  • Kai Hockerts, Lisa Hehenberger, Stefan Schaltegger, and Vanina Farber: Defining and conceptualizing impact investing: Attractive nuisance or catalyst?, Journal of Business Ethics, September 2022
  • Isaline Thirion, Patrick Reichert, Virginie Xhauflair, and Jonathan De Jonck: From fiduciary duty to impact fidelity: Managerial compensation in impact investing, Journal of Business Ethics, September 2022

The latter two papers were contributed by the elea Center for Social Innovation to a special issue in the Journal of Business Ethics, the first time that an FT50 journal has dedicated a collection of papers to the emerging topic of impact investing.

OWP Lausanne 2022 at IMD Business School

We published 19 articles in other academic and practitioner journals, six book chapters, and two conference papers on sustainability themes.
Knut Haanaes and Katherine Brown produced a book chapter on how the pandemic has demonstrated the importance of system leadership in executive education, and Amanda Williams co-authored a chapter on transferring interdisciplinary sustainability research to practice.

In 2022, IMD and media outlets such as Le Temps, South China Morning Post,, and Neue Zürcher Zeitung also published 101 articles highlighting research by faculty and researchers on sustainable business. Our thought leadership platform I by IMD carried 88 articles on sustainability, covering topics such as sustainable development, circular economy, supply chain, corporate responsibility, equity, inclusion and diversity, ethical investment, and social impact.
