IMD Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation Howard Yu has been selected to figure among the Thinkers50 Radar list of the 30 thought leaders most likely to shape the future of how organizations are managed and led. 

The Thinkers50 Radar scans the globe for up-and-coming leaders of management thinking. 

“The Radar list is keenly anticipated,” said co-founder Des Dearlove. “It is an early warning system to alert managers about the people who are doing exciting and important work.” 

Professor Yu, a former Hong Kong banker who has a Harvard Business School education, specializes in technological innovation, with a focus on why and how some firms can sustain new growth while others cannot. 

He is the author of an award-winning paper, “Leopards sometimes change their spots: How established firms can transform themselves,” which argues incumbent companies can in fact leverage the advantages of startups, instead of merely being disrupted by them. 

It is Professor Yu’s second major accolade of recent years, after he was featured in Poets & Quants, a respected business education resource, as one of the Best 40 under 40 Professors globally in 2015. 

Thinkers50 identifies, ranks, and shares the very best in management ideas. Its definitive global ranking of management thinkers is published every two years.
