IMD’s MBAs dive deep in all new digital lab

The week-long crash course covers Python, Scrum, machine learning, big data and more
September 2018

The world of business is moving faster than ever, and to keep up with the demands made of today’s leaders, IMD constantly refreshes its curriculum.

This year, in addition to an intensive innovation ‘boot camp’, IMD’s MBAs are undertaking a week-long digital lab to grasp technologies that are increasingly underpinning nearly all aspects of doing business.

IMD faculty and industry experts will lead the class of 90 through a series of discussions, workshops and activities that focus on Agile management methodologies, algorithms, Scrum Master techniques, coding, the Python programming language, machine learning, data visualization, and more.

Creating impact through digital

“IMD has always been well known for developing strong leaders, but today’s graduates increasingly need to have a deeper knowledge of how technology actually works if they want to be able to harness it to create impact in their organizations and the world,” said Professor Seán Meehan, Dean of IMD’s MBA program.

The digital lab will be led by digital expert, IMD Professor Amit Joshi. Several coaches will also guide the MBAs through their digital journey.

“The first three days will be built around the Scrum project management methodology and a code academy. During the final two, participants will use their newly acquired Python skills to advance in data visualization and machine learning,” said Amit Joshi.

At the end of the week, participants will receive a recognized Scrum Master Certificate.

Working with experts from every field

“As managers and leaders, our graduates need to have enough key skills to be able to speak and understand experts from all departments. This lab will prepare them for managing digital transformation, which is taking place in all companies and all sectors,” added Prof. Joshi.

IMD digital lab week takes place from 17-21 September 2018.
