Jean-François Manzoni to lead IMD for another five years
The Foundation and Supervisory Boards of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) have renewed the presidential mandate for Professor Jean-François Manzoni for a period of five years, from 2022 to 2026.
Professor Manzoni, who also serves as Nestlé Chaired Professor at the Institute, has been President of IMD since January 2017. IMD’s presidents serve for five-year terms, and his mandate has been extended until 31 December 2026.
“At a time that our Institute and our industry are facing a huge challenge, which calls for a deep re-design of our business and pedagogic models, I am delighted that Jean-François has decided to lead this transformation for another five years,” said Michel Demaré, Chairman of IMD’s Foundation and Supervisory Boards.
“It allows us to think long-term and invest, with confidence in the continuity of our leadership.”
Welcoming the extension of his service, Professor Manzoni said: “We started 2020 with exceptional momentum after three years of consistent growth. And as challenging as this year has been, it has also been an excellent opportunity: we have innovated quickly, accelerating in research and pedagogy.
“This year has also reinforced our shared purpose and our sense of community at IMD. I am very proud of what we have achieved and look forward to building on these efforts to deliver on our promise of real learning, real impact, at the service of challenging what is and inspiring what could be, to develop leaders who transform organizations and contribute to society.”
Leadership, the development of high-performance organizations and corporate governance form the core of Professor Manzoni’s research, teaching, and consulting work.
Under his stewardship, IMD has strengthened its academic excellence, expanding and increasing the diversity of its faculty, and its professors have published in some of the world’s most influential journals and magazines.
During Professor Manzoni’s first term, the Institute has performed consistently well in rankings, maintaining its position as No 1 worldwide for Open Programs and in the top three for combined Open and Custom Programs in the Financial Times Executive Education Rankings.
This year IMD’s MBA program was named No 1 in Europe by Bloomberg Business Week, and last year its one-year MBA program was named the best outside the US by Forbes. The MBA program has seen record enrolment this year, and increased gender diversity.
