IMD backs inclusive business models and women in business awards

IMD draws on its motto as it puts its name to two cases at this year’s EFMD case study competition.
June 2020

IMD is delighted to be sponsoring two categories of the European Foundation for Management Development’s Case Writing competition 2020, at which IMD also won prizes in the Indian management, sustainability and supply chain categories.

The two categories – Women in Business and Inclusive Business Models – were chosen in line with IMD’s vision of “challenging what is and inspiring what could be.”

IMD congratulates the recently announced 2020 winners of both categories. In the Women in Business category, the case “Google LLC: The Diversity Manifesto and Leader Candour” was triumphant and was written by Raymond Chiu of Brock University and Fernando Olivera of Ivey Business School, both schools in California.

When it came to the Inclusive Business Models category, the winning case was “BanaPads: To grow or not to grow? That is the question” by Luisa Alemany of London Business School in the UK, Nicholas Andreou of Big Society Capital, also in the UK, and Alma Gutierrez of Mexico’s Elevar Equity, a human-centered capital firm.

Anand Narasimhan, Shell Professor of Global Leadership and Dean of Faculty and Research at IMD who also served as a jury member, said: “The EFMD Case Competition announcement is anticipated eagerly by the case method community. Thanks to the rigorous jury process that EFMD puts in place with partner institutions and independent jury members, the winning cases set the standard for newly written cases.”
