Executives achieve supply chain excellence

Former participants tell why Leading the Global Supply Chain was a great opportunity for them
August 2015

IMD’s Leading the Global Supply Chain (LGSC) is a program for senior executives, teams and consultants responsible for procurement, supply chain management, operations, customer-supplier relations and sustainability improvements. It helps them achieve growth for their organizations through agility and efficiency.

IMD spoke with some former participants to find out why the program was right for them.

“Leading the Global Supply Chain was a great opportunity to step back and think about the most important issues for my business. IMD provided extremely useful ideas and methodologies,” said Christopher Reed, Director of Inventory, Ferguson Enterprises, the largest plumbing equipment distributer in the US.

“Group sessions and discussions with executives from other business sectors gave me a chance to gain a broader view of my work. The professors were very lively and engaging. The size of the group was ideal and the open classroom setting made the discussions more meaningful,” said Bernhard Vogel, Head of Central Demand Management at Continental, a leading German automotive manufacturing company.

According to Thomas Tackie, Head of Supplier Management at Dong Energy, Denmark’s largest energy company, the program was refreshingly varied.

“The insights I gained from fellow participants were very valuable. The general structure and course preparation material was nicely balanced. The faculty were experienced and provided highly relevant material and positive energy,” he said.

Marc Wouters, Senior Continuous Improvement Manager at Kuehne + Nagel, a global transportation and logistics company, said it was a great overall look at the wide scope of supply chain management. He also appreciated the enthusiasm of the professors.

“There was a good cultural and professional mix of participants.Leading the Global Supply Chain re-emphasized the need to look beyond the borders of my own company and look at E2E supply chains,” he said.
