Professor Haanaes' research interests are related to digital transformation, strategy and sustainability.
He has published articles on strategy and sustainability in top publications such as Harvard Business Review and Sloan Management Review and has conducted reports for BCG and the World Economic Forum. He is co-author of the bestselling book "Your Strategy Needs a Strategy" published in 2015 by Harvard Business Review Press. He is also a recent TED speaker ("Two reasons companies fail – and how to avoid them").
Howard H. Yu is Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation. He specializes in technological innovation, strategic transformation and change management. His teaching and research activities focus on why and how some firms can sustain new growth while others cannot.
Among the many industries that Professor Yu has investigated – ranging from healthcare, automobile and heavy machinery to fast-moving consumer goods – he has also traced the evolution of the global PC industry, including the top three motherboard makers and laptop manufacturers worldwide. The resultant paper, titled "Leopards sometimes change their spots: How established firms can transform themselves," won the prestigious best paper award at the Israel Strategy Conference. His work appears regularly in the Financial Times, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Forbes magazine and the NY times.
In 2015 Professor Yu was featured in Poets & Quants, a well respected higher education resource, as one of the Best 40 Under 40 Professors. Professor Yu is also a prize-winning case writer (EFMD - The European Foundation for Management Development). He was most recently short-listed by Thinkers50 for the Innovation Distinguished Achievement Award.
