Learning Manager (100%)

Job’s mission 

Manage, design and deliver learning and coaching services in all of IMD’s programs including: open, and custom programs, in online, blended and face-to-face format, supporting the Program Director and the Client.

This role requires an in-depth understanding of: 

(a) how to tackle complex business and leadership challenges to add value for the client and participants and

(b) how to design and deliver high-impact learning experiences that meet the clients’ or participants’ specific needs. 

Main responsibilities

  • Design of executive learning and development programs: for online, blended and face-to-face learning
  • Client relationship management: in the context of managing custom programs
  • Program management: point-person for faculty, client, speakers, coaches and program coordinators on large programs
  • Participant coaching and support: preparation and delivery of business and leadership coaching, action learning projects, providing feedback
  • Ensuring quality of learning: learning and business impact surveys and analysis, program certification requirements
  • Institutional projects.

Formula for success


  • Masters of Business Administration or equivalent degree.


  • Extensive work experience on a wide range of strategic/business topics; experience could be gained through strategic management consulting, through roles in several different functional or general management positions or having worked extensively in strategy. Alternatively extensive leadership development and coaching experience
  • Design and development of executive education interventions, both online and face-to-face
  • Working with executive education clients or senior executives
  • Coaching and facilitating work with teams and individuals
  • Managing international project teams and stakeholders from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds


  • Solid understanding of one or more of the following areas of business education:
    • Business strategy/management consulting
    • Digital disruption and innovation
  • Ability to design impactful and interactive learning interventions in an executive education context (e.g. action learning, experiential exercises)
  • Solid ability to provide value-adding feedback and coaching to participants, based on knowledge of the main management disciplines, and coaching principles
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with initiative and drive to overcome obstacles, deliver impeccable client service and see projects through to a successful conclusion
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Familiarity and ease with online learning technologies
  • Knowledge of education certification & learning quality-control procedures
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to sudden and ongoing change and deliver on deadlines
  • Capacity to manage upwards (e.g. faculty)
  • Excellent personal organization
  • A general curiosity in latest management thinking
  • Above-average computer literacy
  • Fluency in English, working knowledge in other languages (especially French) would be an asset
  • Highly business aware; service - and customer-oriented
  • Ability to work on several different projects and meet deadlines; self-starter, work independently and effectively with others; excellent team spirit
