“Challenging & shaping your strategy in a turbulent world” is an exceptional two day learning journey to challenge and shape your strategy in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world.

Conceived following a strong demand from our program participants and families in our global network, this IMD Family Business Focus Series will be a healthy blend of classroom teaching, case studies, keynote addresses, workshops, interactive sessions as well as time for networking.

Day 1

The first day focuses on setting the context: understanding the macro-economic trends that will impact businesses in the future, as well as exploring how likely they are to hit Family Businesses at their core, challenging traditional key success factors and sustainable family conventions.

Day 2

The second day focuses on developing your strategic roadmap and exploring how to prepare your business for future turbulent times. The day will involve workshops exploring how to shape strategies for the future, how to engage your family and business leadership in building a roadmap and agenda and how to lead during times of continual change, maximizing your business chances of winning across generations.

This exceptional two day learning journey is brought to you by:

For nearly 20 years Professor Kenyon-Rouvinez has worked extensively with very large family businesses and is used to deal with complex governance and wealth situations.

Denise is co-author of the book “Governance in Family Enterprises: Maximizing Economic & Emotional Success”

Thomas W. Malnight, Professor of Strategy and General Management

Professor Malnight works extensively with top leadership teams in challenging how they view their changing competitive landscape, how they shape their future and strategies for moving forward, how they engage and align priorities and actions across their organizations, and how they work together as a focused high performing leadership team.

Keynote speakers

  • Eric Babolat, Chief Executive Officer, and Aurélie Babolat, Board Member, will explore what Babolat’s potential next strategic moves might be in order to remain at the top of their game.

Since 1875, Babolat has transformed their family business with each generation. The oldest tennis manufacturer in the world, providing equipment to champions such as Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, is now run by the 5th generation and holds over a third of the global market share.

  • Andy Rubin, Chairman of Pentland Brands, will talk about the corporate responsibility, an inherent part of Pentland Group’s business culture and model. Pentland Group plc, a second- and third-generation family enterprise, started in 1932 as a shoe distributor and manufacturer. It later diversified into other businesses, only to ultimately re-focus and become a “family of brands” in the sports and fashion industries.

Pentland is the owner of brands such as Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, Boxfresh, Ellesse, KangaROOS and Mitre. Pentland Group plc was awarded the 2017 IMD Global Family Business Award.
