Barbara Kux is a recognised Member of Board of Directors with a long-standing European and international experience. Her Board Mandates include global companies such as Henkel, Pargesa Holding (e.g. Adidas, Total, SGS) and the world’s largest privately owned fragrance and flavour company Firmenich where she has been appointed Vice Chairman. As of June 2019 she will also be a Member of the Board of the international Grosvenor Group.
In her role as Board Member she contributes to sustainable leadership, digitization and strategy. The EU Commission appointed her to the High Level Panel for Decarbonisation giving strategic advice on research and innovation.
From 2008 to 2013, Ms. Kux was a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG. She was responsible for supply chain management and sustainability and increased results from these areas by several billions of euros, just as she had done previously at Royal Philips, where she was a member of the group management committee. Under her leadership, both companies reached top positions in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index: in 2012 and 2013 Siemens was distinguished in this index as the most sustainable industrial company of the world. As a member of the SDSN Leadership Council for the UN she contributed to the definition of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. From 1989 to 2003 she served as a senior manager at ABB, Nestlé and Ford. She established their leadership in Central and Eastern Europe by integrating existing brands, focusing on local talent and appointing local CEOs. She started her career as a management consultant at McKinsey in 1984.
Ms. Kux holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD and has taken executive courses at IMD. In cooperation with leading business schools, she has developed strategic case studies on sustainability, joint ventures and international leadership. The Wall Street Journal listed her among leading international business women and so did Fortune consistently over a period of more than 10 years. Since 1995 Barbara Kux has been a Global Leader of Tomorrow at the World Economic Forum Davos.
