Inclusive Future Research

In 2022, IMD completed its Inclusive Future research project, sponsored by a key client. This research exposed the evolution of inclusion and how the last three years have greatly impacted how employees experience inclusion. It offers refreshed insights into how to best measure inclusion, keeping the many recent socio-economic movements, generational shifts, and technology changes into account. In this context, our EI&D advisory team designed, together with the client, an Inclusion Net Promotor Score (iNPS). This cutting-edge tool is being rolled out globally by the client and offers tangible insight into how to progress inclusion and inclusive leadership.

Teaching

Following a review of our degree and open program curriculum, we are increasing the diversity of guest speakers, as well as protagonists in case studies, to better reflect the modern world we operate in. Program directors are encouraged to ensure a more equitable balance in their speakers, protagonists, cases, language, and examples used to ensure they reflect the world in which we operate. EI&D topics are also embedded in many leadership programs, as well as other open and custom programs. Since 2021, participants register for programs with a choice of three different gender options: female, male, and other.

Advisory

IMD is increasingly establishing itself as a thought leader in EI&D advisory work for international corporations and organizations. Whether organizations start, refresh, or elevate their EI&D initiatives, our advisory is based on rigorous research and experience with Fortune 500 companies. It offers organizations in all industries the guidance, best practice, and tools to progress.

In 2022 we held more than 20 client engagement sessions with international corporations and organizations. We also held confidential one-on-one conversations with CEOs, executive committee members, executive committee teams, top-tier groups, HR professionals, and heads of talent, learning and EI&D. Our EI&D advisory offers best-practice guidance on governance, messaging, positioning, and strategy. It is aimed at tangible and impactful results and is based on thought leadership experience. For example, we support organizations in designing a fit-for- purpose and impactful EI&D strategy.

Silke Muenster

“In 2022, IMD finalized the research project ‘Inclusive Future’ with us and collaborated further to create an iNPS (Inclusion Net Promoter Score), based on the research. I truly enjoyed the intellectual, stimulating discussions with the EI&D Senior Advisor and Research Fellow. The research was scientifically thorough with many practical applications, which we are now in the process of implementing across the globe. The collaboration has been very fruitful, and the thought-leading output has helped us to make a next step with regards to inclusion at PMI.”

Silke Muenster, Chief Diversity Officer, PMI
