Global Center for Digital Business Transformation
The Global Center for Digital Business Transformation (DBT Center) provides fresh insights and evidence-based advice to help organizations successfully navigate their digital transformation journeys. We provide world-leading research and analysis on digital business transformation and prepare executives to take advantage of digital opportunities and respond to threats.
A cutting-edge suite of programs and formats
In 2022, IMD continued to expand its Digital Excellence Diploma program portfolio, drawing from research conducted by the DBT Center. Sixteen programs were delivered across multiple formats, including face-to-face, LiVe, and online formats. New programs within the portfolio include Leading Digital Execution, Building Digital Ecosystems, Developing Digital Strategies, Strategies for Supply Chain Digitization, Cybersecurity Risk and Strategy, Digital Transformation in Practice, and the Digital Transformation Sprint.
“These five days were excellent. They gave me a total immersion into the digital landscape. I left with practical tools and frameworks enabling me to explore possible implementations of digital transformation in my company.”

Research and collaborations
During the course of 2022, together with the Swiss Digital Initiative, we published the report Getting Started in Digital Responsibility, a roadmap for adopting best practices in relation to how to launch and sustain an organization’s approach to corporate digital responsibility. Research that explores the intersection of digital and sustainability played a large role in our thought leadership agenda in 2022.
We continued to expand our collaborations in Asia, including co-developed research on digital disruption and transformation with MIC Consulting in Taiwan and NTT Consulting in Japan.
Continued focus on digital leaders
Staff from the DBT Center were involved in delivering more than two dozen presentation and media interviews across 2022. Director Michael Wade is a regular contributor to the business press on events linked to digital disruption and Research Fellow Tomoko Yokoi writes a regular column for Forbes online.
As part of its Digital Leader Circle, Michael Wade and Didier Bonnet organized multiple events in 2022 for digital leaders. These invite-only events focus on specific digital challenges being faced by executives, such as how to fund a digital transformation program, and how to align digital and IT initiatives. A regular newsletter was created to further engage with Digital Leader Circle members.
